I’ve been waiting for what feels like forever since Liam uploaded a short clip of himself playing piano teasing this song in 2018.
Luckily with numerous gigs in-between I’ve been able to hear it live a few times along the way. And now, less than a week before the album is due to be released, it’s finally here.
Hanging Off Your Cloud is definitely Courteeners most mature work to date. Considering Liam struggled with this album due to writers block you would never be able to tell with this song, as lyrically it’s much stronger than the majority of other songs I’ve heard from them.
The use of violins gives it a much different feel to any of their previous work, Liam’s voice has a much softer feel to it which compliments the instruments well.
It finally feels like Courteeners are getting the recognition they deserve, they’ve always been able to pull big crowds in Manchester but now headlining festivals and playing arenas across the country whilst providing some of the best support acts out there from Gerry Cinnamon to Pale Waves & DMA’s.
So cheers Liam for gracing us with your finest work to date and roll on Friday for the rest of the album.
